Rotor Q-Ring Road Version Reviews.
***** (5 out of 5)
"I will only suggest or promote products to my members that I know with 100% confidence will deliver a result out on the bike. Use Q-Rings with our proven pedal action techniques, core training and BOOTCAMPS and you'll be absolutely AMAZED at how much stronger, smoother, and more efficient you are on the bike--no matter why you ride! I will be wearing a set of Q-Rings on every bike I own for years to come and look forward to learning of your results using these as a club member."
--Graeme Street, Owner Cyclo-CLUB
Recent Mt. Greylock Training Ride Results with Compact Q-Rings:
"113 Miles. 9990 ft. of climbing. No cramps. No bonks. No muscle or knee soreness. Sprinted home at 30+ mph and was out riding again at peak fitness in only 48 hrs!"
I used these in the 2009 Death Ride with a great 5-pass finish without my usual cramps or leg twinges.

Rotor Q-Ring Mountain Bike Version Review
I am an avid mountain biker, not a pro--so I'll let you get from this what you like. I have to say that I think that the MTB Version of the Q-Rings are even more useful than the road version, especially for me living in steep gradient areas for mountain biking.
I love the carry over of the pedal stroke, and am able to hammer most hills better than with a regular shaped rings. Although Q-Rings have won national championships in Cross, they seem to be for PRO's--but I disagree.

The only problem I found with the MTB version was on the Niner RIP 9 (I was reviewing) with the mud clearance at the 2009 VT 50. Everyone with full suspension had problems, but the Q-Rings worsened my issue with the lack of space between them and the wishbones of the RIP9. Now, let it be known that the wishbones on the RIP are wide, so can't say that any one thing is to blame, but I did have serious clearance issues, chain suck and total drivetrain freeze (many times)--as did many of us in the race.
Shifting quality? Good, but not as good as the road version. Some of you may have to "dial it in" several times to get what you want. Because I ride a 29" bike, the front derailleur and the shape of the Q-rings can make for some tight adjustments. Overall, this is a product I will continue to use on my own mountain bikes and one I recommend for my customers and listeners that are using my club techniques and Cyclo-CORE workouts.
Remember, you are the engine! Work on you first and a tool like the ROTOR Q-Rings will become a very powerful alley.

Rotor 3-D Crank
ROTOR developed the 3D crank to be extremely stiff in order to meet the demands of Thor Hushovd and the sprinters of Cervelo TestTeam. But it also needed to be lightweight enough to satisfy the needs of Carlos Sastre and the climbers as well. ROTOR utilizes a special manufacturing process, named the "Trinity Drilling System. Rotor SAAB Ceramic Bottom Bracket
The Self-Aligning Bottom Bracket from ROTOR is compatible with all outboard bearing cranksets that are compatible with Shimano's external bearing bottom bracket. The SABB uses external bearings, but contains a fundamental difference to every other outboard bearing bottom bracket system: the bearings are held within ball-in-socket housings, allowing them to swivel into absolutely parallel alignment with each other, irrespective of any outside influences. This automatic self-alignment of the bearing races occurs independent of any possible frame imperfections or stresses: unparallel faces, non-perfect concentricity of the threading in both sides, deformation due to excessive loading, etc.
Additionally, due to its user friendliness and simplicity, the consumer can change the bearings without the need of any special tools. more info > > >

ROTOR Q-Ring MTB Triple Sets (XTR M970)
Our Mountain Bike Rotor Q-Rings do not eliminate the dead-spot, but help to reduce its negative effects, moving the legs easier through the dead-spot imitating a smaller circular chainring, and enabling the legs to remain in the power stroke for a longer period of time when compared to round chainrings. Q-Rings change the equivalent tooth size by decreasing it before the dead-spots and increasing it when the rider is in the power mode (when more power is available at the pedal down stroke). more info > > >
